How Shashi Tharoor got his 'happily-ever-after' story
The city's club class would have never dreamed of the exalted Shashi Tharoor, 56, grubbing around with sweat equity, even if he had discarded his Savile Row for the humble angavastram and Nehru jackets.

But what really broke their collective, corseted hearts was Sunanda Pushkar. They will take time to forgive her for the chutzpah to land the most eligible single man in town — after Rahul Gandhi, of course. And Tharoor will be forever grudged for falling for a rank outsider. The turbulent days of Tharoor’s forays from “cattle class” to the hurriedly buried Cochin IPL franchise made for many more satirical outbursts than The Great Indian Novel could ever manage.
