6 must have iphone applications for everyone

iPhone Applications

iPhone, more than just a smartphone is fascinating because of all the variety of applications available to it. There are millions of applications that you could download to your iphone but only a few of them are really useful. Others are just the same. But, after some good research and browsing through of all the iphone applications available to its users, here is a list compiled of must have applications for iPhone.

1. The Yelp

This application is the best out there in terms of guiding you where to go when you’re out in the open. Whether it’s a theater or a restaurant, all you need to do is switch on your 3G and open the yelp application. You’re all set to go. It shows all the restaurants, theaters, salons, services, post offices and everything in an area you specify. 2. FlightTrack Pro

If you’re a frequent flyer or want to check the availability of flights immediately, then this is the best application for you. Wherever you are or whatever you do, just access this application and you’re set to get all the information about flights and timings. It tracks all the flights in the air or on land and keeps you updated on information regarding delay, flight status, gates changes and such important things. The most amazing thing about this application is that you can contact the FlightTrack pro to let someone know if you’ll be late. That’s why this application is a must have. The service is excellent and the application in itself is a real masterpiece of information. Both you and your phone will definitely love it.

3. The Mint budget Application

This is a must have for all. The Mint is a budgeting tool that has lots of advanced features. You can track your financial accounts on real time basis and an alert will be sent to you regarding any changes that happen on any of your accounts. This tool is quite useful especially when you need to check your account balance daily. You don’t have to log on to the internet or go to an ATM anymore to check your bank balance. Alerts and information is right there in your hands in the Mint budgeting Iphone application. Here’s a surprising thing for you: The application doesn’t cost you anything. Yes! It is absolutely FREE!

4. SlingPlayer Mobile

Have you ever imagined operating your Television from across the street, but watching it too. That’s what SlingPlayer is all about. You can watch all the programs that run on your TV just by installing a simple Sling Box device at home. In fact, you can even record programs to watch it at a later time. The SlingPlayer is one amazing application that helps a lot of people watch TV while moving. They seem to be watching soccer and sports from their Iphone. Remember, this is not magic, so you’ve to have access to wireless network connection in order for this SlingPlayer to work. This is a must have application to be added to your list if you love watching television or don’t want to miss any programs.

5. Photoshop.com Mobile

Apple’s iPhone is a major hit across the globe not only for its applications but also because of the camera it has. The iPhone’s camera is so clear and high quality that even a real professional camera has to compete with it. So you’ve clicked the picture, so what next? How about a small application that will alter photos you’ve taken and edit it quickly? That’s what you require. You don’t have to rush to your PC and plug in the device, open Photoshop and edit the pictures you’ve taken. You can flip images, crop it to any size you want and even share it with just a click of a button .. sorry .. I meant touch of a finger. So this application is a cool one that will give you the feel of a professional photographer. You will never again need to use your PC for photo sharing as this application takes care of all such problems.

6. Facebook & Twitter

Finally, this application is something everyone must and will definitely have. There is no single specific application that I recommend as all Facebook and Twitter applications are good to use. But it’s a must have if you’re a social networking freak. Even if you’re not a freak it’s a must have because you can communicate and socialize with your friends and family even if you’re in classroom or at workplace. Social networking is on the rise so this application is a default addition to your list, whether or not you like it. It’s free and fun, so why not have it?
The above given 6 applications are must have iPhone apps. Whether it’s financial stuff or photo sharing, banking & accounting or flight tracking, the iPhone applications that are mentioned above will take care of it all.
The list is my personal favorite and many of the readers agree to it. They’re happy to have these applications in their iPhone and I’m pretty sure you will enjoy them too. These applications are for your daily needs and to be used on a daily basis. They reduce your time for doing certain things and save your efforts.

SlingPlayer for iphone release imminent: $30

There has been quite a high level of excitement and anticipation surrounding the SlingPlayer for iphone. The much anticipated SlingPlayer has finally hit the stores. You too can fetch your SlingPlayer at any of the iTunes App Store.
While the SlingPlayer has finally hit the market, it has come with a major restriction. The SlingPlayer will only stream video over Wi-Fi and not over AT&T’s 3G data network.  Owing to this restriction, the usability of SlingPlayer has been hampered by a great extent.
Slingbox set-top boxes give the users the opportunity to stream their home TV in real-time to anywhere they want. Available at $29.99, the SlingPlayer application comes across as slightly expensive for iPhone apps. However, the price is just the same as the previous SlingPlayer mobile apps versions for Blackberry, Palm OS and Windows Mobile.

slingplayermobile_iphone
The SlingPlayer mobile is compatible with all existing iphone. It also works with the ipod touch models. With the kind of compatibility that SlingPlayer has to offer, one should not have a problem using the apps. Apart from he Slingbox Solo, Slingbox Pro, and Slingbox Pro-HD models, the iphone player would also work with all legacy models. However, technical support will not be available for the legacy models.
The software has not undergone much change since its first version. But all those of you who had been dying for the apps can now have a look at it at your nearest store. An even better idea would be to wait for sometime and see the market response.

Nexus S 4G Review

Nexus S 4G Review

The Nexus S was the third of only 3 devices 100% sanctioned by Google and running pure Android. Sprint is teaming up with Samsung and Google to bring it’s version of the phone the Nexus S 4G to it’s WiMax network. Besides the 4G radio there are no differences between the original Nexus S and the Nexus S 4G and with specs that are starting to look slightly dated is it worth your money?
Design and Build Quality
The Nexus S 4G like the Nexus S before it has some pretty great hardware design; Samsung did an amazing job with the front of the device particularly. The screen when turned off is flush with the black accents making it almost seem to vanish. The Nexus S 4G also features a contoured display and while the precession effect it has is nominal at best it does protect more of the screen when placed face down. The back of the device on the other hand looked really nice with a faint pattern all over. Unfortunately despite looking nice the light plastic material used in it’s construction make it feel cheap to the touch. The super AMOLED display on the front of the device is every bit as mind blowing as on the Galaxy S line.
Specifications
A Samsung Hummingbird processor that is clocked in at 1GHz powers the Nexus S 4G. The Nexus S 4G has 512 MBs of RAM and 16GB nandflash storage. The trade off for such a huge flash storage is that there isn’t an SD care slot like most Android phones so the memory is not expandable. The Nexus S 4G has dimensions of 4.88 x 2.48 x 0.44 and weighs in at 4.6 ounces.
Camera and Special Features
The Nexus S 4G features a 5-megapixel camera with LED flash capable of 720p video. Stills taken from the phone were less than stellar compared to other high-end Android phones. The Nexus S 4G also features a front facing 1.3-megapixel cameras for video chat. The Nexus S 4G is the first phone to get new Android updates and is one of the first in the country to feature NFC for mobile payments.
Battery Life
The Nexus S 4G features the same battery as the original Nexus S but while the original Nexus S had decent battery life the Nexus S 4G’s power hungry radio makes for a real problem. You can probably get a full days life out of it but in solid use I wouldn’t expect more than 6 hours.
Wrap up
While the Nexus S 4G is a great device that’s one of the best in terms of software-based features it’s less than current specs and lack luster battery life make it hard to recommend. If your stuck on Sprint and want the pure Android experience it’s your only option.

Samsung Intensity Review

Samsung Intensity U450 released in 2009 is a smartphone that offers basic facilities to users at a reasonable price. Not only does this device face competition from other smartphones released before, it is important to know whether Samsung Intensity offers enough or not. Here’s taking a closer look:

Design

Samsung Intensity U450 is constructed out of plastic with rounded edges. When the screen slides across it reveals a full QWERTY keyboard. Though this device doesn’t feel too light, the plastic build makes it less sturdier than other smartphones. This device has a 2.1″ TFT display of 176х220 pixel resolution. The display quality is average and screen visibility outdoors is a problem. Below the display is the circular D-Pad surrounded by two soft keys, speakerphone and clear key. Send and End keys are found at the edges of these keys. A number keypad is situated below these keys, with each key being raised so that it can be felt easily.
While the left of the Samsung Intensity has a headset jack, volume rocker and charging port, the right side houses the voice command key and camera key. The rear of this smartphone contains the camera lens and speaker.

Samsung Intensity Software

Samsung Intensity has a standard phonebook, with a maximum of 1,000 entries with multiple numbers and emails allowed per person. Typing a message can occur through the QWERTY keyboard or through the T9 input method. Emails can be accessed easily and the app Mobile e-mail can help in this. While the music player works well with good sound quality, music cannot be downloaded over the air.

Keyboard

The keyboard on the Samsung Intensity has four rows of keys with the keys being curved. While this is not a very spacious keyboard, it does have an average comfort feel. There is a dedicated key for messaging. The arrow keys on this keyboard are located on the L, M, N, and period keys.

Camera

Samsung Intensity has a 1.3MP camera lens that produces very average photos. There are photo editing options and images can be shot in varying resolutions.

Samsung Intensity Battery

This device has 5 hours of talktime and 12 days of standby time.

Samsung Intensity Cases

This device can be made to look snazzy through the variety of cases available. Samsung Intensity hot pink and blue skins are offered to cover the device and make it more durable. Also available are Body Glove Snap-on Cases in black or a pink checked design. One may also use a Carbon Star or Milk Drop White Cover.
While the Samsung Intensity is a compact device at a reasonable price, it comes with a poor camera and display quality is not too great. Users who are looking for a stylish device that is high on performance should probably look elsewhere.

LG optimus T with Google - Affordable Android Device

LG Optimus T with Google Affordable Android Device

LG Optimus T

LG and T-Mobile have come into a collaboration to launch a new budget friendly and user friendly Android mobile phone device. This is for the first time that Android phones are made affordable for their prospective new smart phone clients. So those who are looking at buying a new phone in the near future, here is what you should know.
The new LG Optimus T, with more or less the same features as the previous phones, is an Android 2.2 device and it adds on further more on the applications side which its previous versions could not really handle. To name some of the features, we have Voice Actions, Chrome to phone etc. It would not be, however, wrong to say that the new LG Optimus T is basically an enhanced version of the LG Optimus One with slight alterations here and there.

The additional features also include a somewhat altered User Interface which looks akin to the stock Android, a 3.2 mega-pixel camera enabled with auto-focus ability and a 2GB microSD memory card which comes along with the phone. The memory slot is enabled to support up to a 32GB microSD card.
The LG Optimus T will start shipping in from this holiday season. The colors on the offer are quite distinctive and attractive. It comes in cool Burgundy and Titanium colors. The claim has been made that the phone is going to be affordable but the exact prices details have not yet been revealed to the press.

New Update in Google Android

Google has always been among the top companies in the world that has come up with various innovative and productive products. In 2010, Google launched their new product known as Google Translate. This product is certainly the best product on the web when it comes to translating texts of different languages. Google Translate can handle machine translation and romanization of non-Roman scripts without any problems and it helps a lot of people to understand scripts that are difficult to understand. The best thing about Google Translate was that you can use it on your Android and use voice capabilities like speaking the word or a phrase that you want to translate rather than typing it. It would also allow you to translate SMS sent to you in foreign languages.

Google Translate for Android

However, in 2011 Google has decided to upgrade Google Translate for Android market and they have really simplified the product further. If we take a quick look at some of the best changes that are made in the new Google Translate there is a dropdown box that helps users to select languages that they want to translate text from and into. This makes it easier for the users to handle the software the way they want it. Google has also tried to improve the layout by adding cleaner layout and bigger icons for better overall presentation.

The Conversation Mode is certainly the most innovative feature of the new Google Translate as it allows you to have a personal translator in your mobile phone. You can start talking in English with your Conversation Mode on and the software will translate all your words into another foreign language and speak it out loud.
Similarly, when the other person speaks in foreign language, Google Translate will translate that and read it out to you in English. However, this mode is still under testing and therefore currently you can only translate between English and Spanish. On the other hand, factors like background noise and regional accents can ruin the entire translation process and Google is working on it. The earlier Google Translate software is used in more than 150 countries and supports 53 different languages.

Apple Registers Record iphone, ipad and mac sales

Apple recently announced its financial results for FY2010 4Q ended September 25, 2010. It posted revenue of $20.34 billion, a record revenue, and net quarterly profit of $4.31 billion, that comes to $2.77 per share. The company posted a gross margin of 36.9%. Last year it was 41.8%. The international sales of Apple accounted for 57% growth.

The company sold 3.89 million Macs in the quarter, which accounts to 27% unit increase compared to last year’s quarter. Apple also sold 14.1 million iPhones, 91% unit growth against last year’s same period. The company revealed 9.05 million iPods sales, which accounts for 11% unit drip from last year’s quarter. During this quarter, Apple sold 4.19 million iPads.

Apple’s CEO Steve Jobs said they made revenue of more than $20, and more than $4 billion in after-tax earnings. He added that both are all-time record for the company. Regarding the 91% growth in iPhone sales, Jobs said that there are more surprises to come in the remaining calendar year.
Apple’s CFO Peter Oppenheimer said the sales performance of the company has thrilled them that generated about $5.7 billion in cash flow this quarter. He added that in the first fiscal quarter of next year they are expecting revenue of around $23 billion and the diluted earnings is expected to be about $4.80 per share.
Apple is the global leader in designing Macs computers apart from OS X, iLife, professional software and iWork. The company also leads in digital music word with the product iPods and online store iTunes. The company is on the way of reinventing revolutionary iPhone. The recently launched iPad of Apple is a magical computing device, as per critics.

Apple iPad

They say its magical, they say its revolutionary they say its unbelievable but is it so? The question remains as we look for the answer. Apple iPad is well and truly what any Tom, Dick and Harry would close their eyes and wish for. The most sleek, the most efficient and the most beautiful gadget that you can have in your pocket or pick out of your hand bag. The list of jaw dropping features is endless and goes on and on.
But what appealed to me most was its appearance; a glassy, futuristic design gives it an edge over all its contemporary brothers. All the application features are well suited to take full advantage of the large 9.7” multi touch screen, which works in every possible orientation. So that makes it truly unique as no other electronic touch screen device works in multiple orientations.

The large Multi-Touch screen on the iPad lets you see web pages as they were meant to be seen one page at a time! That again is a unique feature; but readability of the content has been improved upon with vibrant color and sharp text. So whether you’re looking at a page in portrait or landscape, you can see everything at a size that’s actually readable.
With the iPad, navigating the web has been easier or more intuitive. Using the most natural pointing device that is the finger scrolling through a page or zooming in or out on a photo has never been so much more animate. You flick your fingers to scroll a page and pinch them to zoom out of photos! There’s also a thumbnail view that shows all your open pages in a grid and lets you move quickly from one page to the next.
These features make it a really handy multipurpose tool. But i pad has not disappointed me with its office features. It has a finger sensitive keyboard that lets you write emails or articles on a word processor and allows you to use its amazing graphics to make a quick presentation. It is like carrying a super efficient desktop PC in your pocket which looks futuristic in design and rock solid in durability and is super cool to use. The iPad entertainment features are rich and heavy. It can play HD videos! The high resolution screen makes it even more inviting in the landscape mode and the built in speakers are decent. Though I prefer the ear phones for an experience of a higher order!
Features normally weighs down on battery life and makes the gadget heavy but i pad is fairly light weighing just over one and a half pounds and is half an inch thick and has fairly good 10 hour battery back up. It comes in two variants based on connectivity that is wi-fi and 3g and three capacity variants that is 16 GB, 32 GB and 64 GB. The Apple iPad is fairly priced at 499$ for an entry level wi-fi model and 829$ for a high end 64 GB 3g model, if the services provided by apple and its brand equity are considered its pricing is fair and just. It is targeted to suffice the needs of young professional and thereby its a good buy for anyone who loves to relax a bit between heavy schedules or rather work a bit more within gain that busy schedule.
